This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the North Carolina Baptist Men’s Board Meeting. You may be thinking, “What in the world? You are not a man!” You are correct. I was there to speak at the breakout session for the wives on Saturday. I am thrilled that they included me for the whole weekend. I cannot tell you how blessed I was, but I am about to try.
We began Friday night with worship. We asked God to open the eyes of our hearts and to help us see Him. Whenever you invite the Spirit of the Living God in be prepared! I listened to testimony after testimony of God’s provision, His faithfulness, and most of all His love. The NCBM Disaster Relief team leader shared about the out pouring of God’s love on the people of Eastern North Carolina as they were hit in April by tornadoes and most recently by hurricane Irene. Another gentleman told of a 33,000 lbs. of books and Bibles and other equipment that had recently arrived in Africa. He told of a young man for the first time had his own Bible. Another 33,000 lbs. is shipping out soon. These are just two of the powerful testimonies. I could go on about the hundreds of people who accepted Jesus as their Savior while on a NCBM job site or the young lady who answered the call to missions because of a trip to Haiti or about the work that North Carolina Baptist are doing in Guatemala, Cuba, Honduras, the Ukraine or other parts of the world. Over and over the same was said. God is at work and He allows us to be a part of it.
What a fabulous group of men and women who quite simply love Jesus and want to make much of Him. They are spreading His truth throughout my beloved state and across the world. To hear more about what they are doing, check out www.baptistsonmission.org.
