Say “Yes!” to God

Has God ever asked you to take on a new project that you felt totally overwhelmed by? What was your response?

Recently this happened to me and my response was a fresh case of doubt. So I followed my usual pattern.

1. Pray

2. Search Scripture

3. Seek godly counsel

Well in this new endeavor, the Lord led me to two different sets of Scripture. One was about David and his group of mighty men and the second was from Jeremiah 32. Now these are not verses that I read every day, so it was interesting that they deal with a human king’s leadership and God’s sovereignty and His ability to tell us exactly what we are to do.

During this process I also asked Hayden, my husband, what he thought I should do. He said yes, go for it.

God gave me my answer through prayer, scripture and wise counsel. I answered Him with a yes, but added, “but I have three speaking engagements lined up so I’m not sure how this is all going to fit together.” Wouldn’t you know it, as I kept reading His word that particular day He gave me the outline to my first lesson, complete with illustrations.

The Lord is good and he is looking for people who will say “Yes, Lord! Walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.” (Is. 26:8) Not for our glory, but for His.

He knows what is on your full plate. He knows what needs to be done and you can trust Him with it all. So, if God is asking you to do something, just say YES!
