For the past two days I have written about phrases from Jeremiah 29:12. “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” Pray to me might be my favorite part of this verse. Intercessory prayer is powerful. We are called to pray for others. When I am struggling with my purpose I often notice that my focus is only fixed on me. We may discover our purpose most often when we are focused on God and others, in that order.
I have seen intercessory prayer at work, most recently this fall in my Moms In Prayer group. Each week four moms gather at Grace Church on Mondays at 9 a.m. We pray for our children and their schools. If you are in Harrisburg, NC come join us. Our prayers have been for the Christian Clubs that meet in our Middle and High Schools. You see the students have been receiving training in how to share their faith with their friends and they have been doing it. Present Age Ministries and Moms In Prayer International joined hands to spread the Gospel. Present Age Ministries trained the students, Moms prayed for the students, the students shared the Truth and God changed lives! In one school alone, twelve students asked Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. God is at work.
He is willing to use your prayers for others to lead you to your purpose. As you pray for others you begin to develop a burden for them or for a situation which may lead you out of your comfort zone and into your purpose. If you are searching for God’s will in your life know that intercessory prayer is a part of it.
