Pressing On

In ninth grade I came to the Blue Ridge Mountains to attend a Fellowship of Christian Athletes camp. The theme verse that week was Philippians 3:14. It says, “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” That week began a season of real spiritual growth for me.

Fast forward twenty-five years. I am in a ladies Bible study that is looking at the same verse. It means much more to me now. So often I feel like I am pressing through drudgery, laundry, and the woes of life and then I remember that there is joy in this verse. The call is to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. This verse doesn’t mean press on to barely survive. It means give it your all and win! “Pressing On” could be our theme when our mission loses some of its luster. If the newness and excitement have worn off of your God given purpose, don’t give up. Look forward and trust that God still has a good plan for your life. Press On!
