Philippians 2:12-13 “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence-continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”
When we obey God it is not by our own power, determination or self-control. After all, left to our own devices even our best is as filthy rags. It is by his power that obedience takes place. Not that we sit back and do nothing to help. But, that we cultivate a love relationship with God that puts us in the position to desire Him not just to desire doing the right thing.
What if our love for Christ overflowed not just like a teapot overflowing a cup but, as Victoria Falls overflows her banks during the rainy season. What if nothing, absolutely nothing compared to our love for Jesus Christ? Then what? How would our lives be different? How would this world be different? These are the questions I’m asking myself today. What if my love for Christ was more like His love for me?
For those of you praying for me as I journey through chemo treatments. Thank you! We are almost finished. My final round is scheduled for August 12, which is also Hayden’s and my wedding anniversary. We will have much to celebrate. God’s goodness to us over the past fourteen years has been amazing. Please pray:
1 that God will receive all the glory for what He accomplishes through this process.
2. that the cancer will “shrink and die”. That is what the doctors say would be the best case scenario.
3 that there will be no lasting side effects from the chemo.
God’s love for us is so complete and unfathomable. Let’s love and obey Him more with each passing day.
