“Whether you turn to the right or to the left your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21
There are roads that we have to travel that we simply don’t want to walk. At least that is how I have felt for the past few weeks since we found out more surgery was needed. I must say though God has been good to me especially this morning. Healing is coming and he has not left me on my own. This morning as I was reading my Bible I heard rain. In my quiet time I read I Kings 18. It is the story of Elijah calling the prophets of Baal up on the mountain to see which altar would be lit with fire. The prophets called out, screamed at and begged Baal to light the fire of their altar. Nothing happened. After all false gods have no real power. Elijah drenched the wood on his altar to the point that water flowed in a trench all around the bottom. Then he said, “O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. Answer me, O LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God , and that you are turning their hearts back again.” God answers. Fire comes and burns up the sacrifice, the wood and licks up the water in the trench. Then Elijah tells wicked King Ahab to eat and drink because rain is coming after a three year drought. There is not a cloud in the sky at first but, Elijah says he heard rain. Then he tells Ahab to hook up his chariot and go before the rain stops him. Then the “sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain came on and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. The power of the LORD came upon Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.” I thank God that he has power:
1. to be a fire that licks up water and wet wood.
2. to allow a man to out run a chariot.
3. to allow rain to be heard before it arrives.
4. for rain to come after a three year drought.
That is God and his power. My prayer is that it would be known today through this battle with cancer that I am God’s child and his servant and let people be drawn to the LORD through this. Let cancer not be for naught. I pray also for those who believe in Jesus that you would proclaim the mystery of the gospel fearlessly. Do you know someone who needs to hear about the love of God today? Are you the one who should share Jesus with them? Will you do it today? There is no greater joy than sharing Jesus and seeing someone come to know Christ. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:14

Finally, “I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him for the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion , and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” Ephesians 1:18-21
