Are you in awe of God?

Deuteronomy 5:29 “Oh that they had such a heart in them that they would fear me and always keep all my commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever.”

Deuteronomy 13:4 “You shall follow the LORD your God and fear  him, and you shall keep His commands, listen to his voice, serve Him, and cling to him.”

Over and over God’s children are encouraged to fear Him, not as a scared child of an abusive parent but, as a child in awe of the wonderful, loving Father. I have been in awe of him recently. Specifically in awe of his love. He desires good things for me and you. He desires to protect and shield. Our Lord is good.

Do you fear God? Are you standing in awe of Him? Are you amazed by His goodness? How can we fear Him and approach Him at the same time?

As you ponder those questions check out these other verses on fearing God.

Jeremiah 32:39-40 “I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me for their own good and the good of their children after them. I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.”

Psalm 25:14 “The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant.”

Psalm 33:18 “Behold the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, On those who hope in His mercy.”

Psalm 34:9 “O fear the LORD, you His saints; for to those who fear Him there is no want.”

Luke 1:50 “His mercy extends to those who fear him from generation to generation.”

Let’s open our eyes and be amazed by God.

p.s. Just for fun check out the moon tonight. For the pass few evenings it has been playing peek-a-boo with me and waiting until almost morning to appear. Even the moon is getting used to daylight savings time. Have a great God-filled day!
