Quick to Listen

Have you ever wondered why you talk to people who aren’t listening? I found myself in this position once and I remember thinking. “Stop! Just be quiet Emily and wait.” What a great reminder it was to me to be still and listen!

James 1:19 encourages us to “be quick to listen.” That is a real struggle for me because I like to talk. Be quick to listen. Stop what you are doing and listen to your friend or family member. Ask questions about what they are talking about. Become an expert in what is important to them. Listening well is a great gift to give someone you love. Listening requires effort but, it is well worth it.
