Cancer Update and Share the Gospel Challenge

Last Thursday, October 8, 2015, I went in for what I thought would be my next to last chemotherapy session. My white blood cells once again refuse to cooperate. They were too low. One nurse said the “lowest she had seen in a while”. She also wondered aloud why “I didn’t feel worse”. I guess she thought I should be sick and I am sure that Satan would like to make me, but other than my seasonal allergies I feel good. Praise the Lord!

The other question the nurses were pondering is why I was not getting upset about not getting to have chemo for two weeks in a row. I explained that God had a plan and a purpose. On the way home I thought the doctors, nurses and I are not in control of killing this cancer. God is in control! If he chooses to allow my white blood cells to need a booster shot to bring them up then he has a reason for it. He will orchestrate things in the way that it is going to be most pleasing to him.

Do you remember at the beginning of these chemo treatments, there was a nurse that I thought the Lord was bringing me to in order to share the gospel with her? Well it has been weeks since I have seen her. She was back on Thursday. Maybe, just maybe she will be my nurse next week.

Another nurse was moved from the infusion room to work directly with the doctors. I had the opportunity to share Jesus with her as she gave me my shot. I will be taking her a “Steps to Peace with God” booklet on Monday. Pray that the Holy Spirit will move in the hearts of these nurses that each may know Jesus personally and develop a close relationship with him. If you need to know Jesus personally or have questions about your faith please ask me. I would love to pray with you or dig into the scriptures to see what God’s Word has to say.

If Jesus is your Lord and Savior I invite you to join me this week in sharing the gospel. Those who know Jesus personally are called to share him. (Matthew 28:19-20) Let’s try to share at least three times this week. Maybe you need help with being comfortable sharing. Guess what we all do! Ask God to help you share. Check out the link above and review the four steps mentioned in the Steps to Peace with God booklet. God loves us and he wants us to be in relationship with Him. This only comes by believing in Jesus and asking Him to be your Lord and Savior. It is so easy and yet so hard. The asking is the easy part. Changing your beliefs to have faith in God instead of yourself is much easier to do as a child. Adults all around us have missed that opportunity when they were younger. They are living in spiritual denial and desperately need someone to share with them the truth of Christ.

Jesus told the disciples “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Luke 10:2) “He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” (Luke 10:16)  Therefore do not fear rejection. That will be each hearers choice. Fear not obeying God! This week let’s commit to share. Let me know how things go.
